A necessary introduction
To get an idea of the sensitivity of these people, they are both directors at the Institute of Geology and Paleontology, which is also the Geological Service of Cuba. He is the director of the Directorate of Assurance of Geological Activity and she is the director of Geological Prospecting. Two professionals who demonstrate their greatness in such a praiseworthy act as feeding, caring for and loving these little animals.
Manchita arrives to our work
A little more than a year ago, the two dogs that were in our center died. It is incredible the affection we have for them, even though they do not belong to one in particular. It is a tradition that in the work yard there are dogs that at night help take care of our work house and become the company of the workers who guard our work property.
The curious thing about all this is that they are stray dogs that come in and because of the affection given to them they become one more member of our big family.
After a few days without dogs in the center, Manchita appeared, a dog that arrived just like the previous ones and that, to make matters worse, was very skinny and a little sick, so we immediately began the collective effort to save her and feed her so that she would get well.
Once again, love continued to work miracles and Manchita changed her face and put on weight, but, to many it seemed that she had put on too much weight, but, very few of us knew the real cause of her weight gain.
It turns out that Manchita was in the stage of being in love and a dog entered the center and was in charge of shaping this act of fierce love between the two little animals.
Joy at the Institute
A little more than 45 days ago Manchita gave birth to no less than 9 puppies. No one could believe that a puppy that arrived in such deplorable health and feeding conditions was capable of such a feat. But, what was really incredible was that she managed to raise all 9 and that all of them were saved.
In this endeavor, it is worthy to recognize the love and care of many workers who bring food from their homes to feed the beloved animals.
José Martí, the Cuban National Hero said that love is repaid with love and, in this case, Manchita returns that love and affection that many of us profess to her. She takes care of us as if it were a matter of life or death and we take care of her as if she were that little sister who came into our life to make it more bearable and beautiful.
Today, Manchita only has four children left with her because five have been given to companions who have made them members of her family and where they will be given the love and care they deserve.
A final comment
There is nothing more beautiful and that makes us more human than to love our fellow men and all the living beings that surround us and, that has been demonstrated by these two human beings that together with Manchita inspired me to make this publication. Both of them have a dog as pets each.
In the case of Luis, he has a great Dane and in the case of Xiomara, a Creole crossbreed dog. Perhaps, they know like few others the primary and major needs of these animals.
To get an idea of what these two workers do for these and the other collective pets we have had at the center, both have been recognized for the care with which they have treated them. To be fair, many have been stuck in this task, but they have always been ahead of the curve.

Llega Manchita a nuestro trabajo
