John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Today, I'd like us to consider giving because it should be a way of life for any true child of God. If there's anything I love about giving, it is the joy the giver gets after giving. I derive so much joy and happiness within each time I am able to give to someone and I know the gift went a long way for the person.
You don't give because you have so much, you give because you are supposed to give. God taught us this, He had just one son yet He gave Him out for man to be reconciled back to Him. He didn't have twenty sons; just one. So, it is not about how much you have. That little you have, give to another.
But to give, you must first have love. God gave to the world because He loved man. If you don't have love, there is no way you give. Develop love for your neighbours.
No one has ever been poor by giving instead you get more. The Bible says that the sower will always have seeds. So if you do not want to lack or be poor, learn to give because givers never lack.
In giving for the work of God, we should learn to give cheerfully. We should not be talked into giving for the work of God. When this is done, I sense that you get no reward because God loves a cheerful giver.
And when you give, ensure not to give out of pride because you will not be rewarded. Remember, when you give, God gives back to you but this time, in a full measure, pressed down till it overflows. Look around the world today, we have so many in need and want. Do well to extend a hand of blessing and help to them in your little capacity. Do not wait until the person comes to beg you before you give.
Certainly, you will be rewarded by God. God's word doesn't fail. He will definitely bless you for doing good. Make giving a lifestyle and a habit today.
