Tithe giving started in the old testament where believers give ten percent of their income to the church as a way of appreciating and helping the poor. In the New Testament, Christians are not commanded to follow the Old Testament tithe as a requirement for salvation or acceptance before God. Instead, believers are encouraged to give willingly, generously, and with a sincere heart.
2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Sometimes it is not all about giving the ten percent but God wants us to give from our heart. The focus is on supporting the work of God, helping those in need, and demonstrating gratitude for His blessings. Christian giving should always be motivated by love, faith, and a desire to honor God, not by obligation or fear.
