The old must give way to the new but it still pains me when a favorite place or business closes and goes out of business. Mostly the new is never better and old is lost in the collective memory.
Here are two such places:
Cliff's, a used bookstore in Pasadena, CA closed its doors in 2015. The best bookstore in the San Gabriel Valley offered rare items as well as used paperbacks. A labyrinth of crooked halls and rooms stacked high with crammed bookcases
easily consumed anyone who ventured inside.
Carousel Mall, San Bernardino, CA.
Named Carousel Mall because of the working carousel featured on the first floor. I never saw the carousel run. I had visited the mall for many years due to a job that was nearby.
I watched the shops dwindle in number over the years until only four or so remained open.
In March 2018 the doors closed for good.
Enjoy shopping at WalMart!
