By tomorrow, the holiday will come to an end, and work will resume immediately. It has been a long weekend, coupled with the Easter holiday. It's amazing how one can enjoy such a break. The only downside is that I didn’t go out at all. Not that I didn’t want to, but the economic reality prevented me from doing so. As a salary earner with only limited streams of income, there’s only so much one can do.

However, whenever there’s a holiday like this, it’s essential to make the most of it. So, what did I do? I dedicated the holiday to working in my garden and tending to the animals I'm rearing. I must say, it's not easy taking care of animals and working in the garden. This made me appreciate real farmers whose primary source of income is farming. The manual labour involved can not be overestimated. Farming is physically demanding; almost like working on a construction site. We all know how strenuous such work can be.

Although every profession has its own tasks and challenges, some require more physical effort than others. Take teaching, for instance, it doesn’t involve much manual labour.

So, what did I do during this period? My rabbit just gave birth, and as a first-time mom, it’s been difficult for her to breastfeed her kits. I had to manually help the little rabbits suckle directly from their mother. After that, I went to the pen where my goats were kept. One of them, who recently lost its mother, needed to be fed too. I took care of that to ensure it doesn’t die prematurely.

In addition, I found time to water the vegetables and maize I planted in the garden. I have a variety of fruits growing there, along with different types of pepper and even potatoes. I just hope they’ll all thrive until harvest time.

Tomorrow is not promised; we must live our lives to the fullest and without regrets.
