If I could tell exactly one experience about my time in Copenhagen, then it would be exactly this headline. Everybody is riding a bike. Anywhere, anywhere. And for good reason: There are very wide cycle paths, even outside the city centre. There are separate turning lanes. There are proper bridges just for cyclists. Everywhere it is tolerated to park your bicycles. Of course I was aware of this fact even before I arrived, but I would not have thought that I would enjoy it that much. The whole city traffic is so much more pleasant. Come on, people, get on the bike tomorrow!
Jeder fährt Rad.
Wenn ich genau eine Erfahrung in Kopenhagen erzählen dürfte, dann wäre es genau diese Überschrift. Jeder fährt Rad. Überall hin, egal wo. Und das aus guten Grund: Es gibt sehr breite Radwege, auch noch außerhalb der Stadtmitte. Es gibt eigene Abbiegespuren. Es gibt passende Brücken nur für Radfahrer. Überall wird es geduldet Fahrräder anzuhängen. Dieser Umstand war mir natürlich schon vor meiner Ankunft bewusst, doch dass ich es auch so genießen würde hätte ich nicht gedacht. Der ganze Stadtverkehr ist dadurch so viel angenehmer. Los Leute, steigt aufs Rad morgen!
