I have been traveling through Kos, a beautiful island in the mediterranean belonging to Greece
This is my last post about this trip and in it I want to show you the main city on this island called "Kos city". It is located at the eastern shoreline only several kilometers next to Bodrum, a city on the main land of Turkey. This city harbors a rich history which can be seen in the mainy ruins of past ages and buildings which still stand today. There is a mosque, a synagogue, the old city and market halls, an orthodox church - which are all worth checking out. But some are closed (all of the religious sites) due to age or condition.
The town has a lot to offer with its harbor and old town alley which bustles with vendors and shops. Of course it is touristy, but not too much so (although this might be because of the corona restrictions). Have a look for yourself!
What a strange tree! It is located at a spot which was connected with Hippocrates. I am not sure it this is historically accurate, but they made the impression that the famous oath that doctors take came from here. While this might not be so, Hippocrates did live on this island. Amazing!
These are the ruins that were scattered around the city. It made me wonder/realize just how much history was buried here. The whole city was probably built on top of the old city and there must be thousands of finds still lying around here. Too bad that it is so hard to find them (or maybe it is better to leave them here?)
And lastly the mall harbor. They have many ships here for day trips and if the owners wouldn't have been so intrusive, I would have thought about getting one.
And then of course there was this majestic and scary pirate ship. Would you dare enter?
