Nowadays it is common to find people who have no hope. In the past, they had dreams and were always animated, but for some reason, now they wake up without any expectation and simply let life take them. Maybe it's because they were disappointed with someone or because their prayers were not answered as they would like. See what the Bible says:
"The hope that lingers sickens the heart, but the wish fulfilled is a tree of life" (Proverbs 13:12).
This verse shows that if we wait for something for a long time, our heart can get sick, and I think the only way to overcome this is to seek God constantly. I know that there are many people who have no plans for the future because they are afraid of becoming frustrated (maybe you are one of them), but I usually say that it is better to wait a lot and receive less, than to expect nothing and there are no changes in our lives.
Hope is an expectation that good things will happen to us, that is, that it gives us strength and will to experience the plans that God has for us. Jesus said that the thief (Satan) came only to steal, kill and destroy, but He (Christ) came to give us a life in abundance! (John 10:10) This means that Jesus expects me and you to have hope (not only in eternity), but in a victorious life here on earth. However, we know that the devil will do everything to believe that our destiny is to suffer and that nothing will change in our lives. That is why we can not forget that he is a liar and that his intention is to destroy us.
I also know that many people want to have more faith to overcome problems, but we must forget that, without hope, they will not have the heart to seek God and thus grow spiritually. Having hope does not cost us anything, but living without it costs us a lot, because life loses its meaning and becomes bored. All of us, at some point, need to renew our hope, because the struggles come to bring us down, but with God we find the breath we need. He encourages us through the Holy Spirit and his Word - the Bible.
There are many biblical passages that need to be engraved in our hearts, so that in difficult days, they can strengthen us. I remember the day when I was very sad and emotionally hurt because of some people who tried to harm me. Then I opened the Bible in Zechariah 9:12 and this verse touched my heart deeply:
"Return to the fortress, O prisoners of hope, today I declare that I will restore everything double for you" (Zechariah 9:12).
I believed in that promise and from that moment I renew my faith and hope. I knew that God was talking to me about my situation and that if I did not lose hope, the day would come when He would give me back double what they took from me. Today I have seen that promise if it fulfills day after day in my life! God has shown his faithfulness, and everything they have tried against me has been reversed in many blessings.
If you are going through a situation where you do not see a way out, I want to encourage you to meditate on the Word of God. She has all the answers you need for every situation in her life!
Do you remember the story of Job? That man lost everything he had and his situation was so exasperating that his wife told him to curse God and die. But he did not, for his hope was firm in God, and the Bible says that the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. (Job 42:10) The Bible also tells that when David lost the son he had with Bathsheba, he wept a lot, but there was a time when David stopped grieving and began to worship God, trusting in His mercies. Later, God blessed him with another son, called Solomon, who became the wisest and richest king the world has ever known.
God also promises to restore his life and rise from the dust. It will be a time of honor instead of humiliation and discouragement, but for that, you need to have hope that God has a blessed future for you. That is why the previous verse (Zechariah 9:12) says that we have to be "prisoners of hope". This means that, no matter what is going on, you need to have the expectation that good things happen with you. That is why, if you hold on to hope, be trapped in it, even if you do not know how to solve problems. God has been faithful with you until today and He will not abandon you!
Do not worry or get angry. Just do like David: worship God and see difficult situations as an opportunity for God to bless you and make you grow spiritually. "Always say words of faith and declare:" God, I put now my hope is in you, I believe that I will overcome and that the Lord will restore everything in double in my life, so I ask you to help me look only the Lord and not for my limitations, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
