Did you know that NASA decided to launch a challenge called (2021 BIG IDEA CHALLEGE), to see if someone from outside the space agency is able to find an effective solution to their problem. This contest has been held since 2016 and seeks the best solutions to different problems that may occur in future space missions, only that instead of being proposed by engineers from the space agency, it is done by students with university graduate degrees affiliated with the Consortium of Space Substations.

In previous editions, students from different US universities had to deal with problems such as:

* The assembly of space tugs.

* The construction and sustainability of a greenhouse on Tuesday or * the study of the dark regions of the moon.

This time it is about thousands of young university students to compete and present their projects to help NASA overcome the technical obstacles that may arise due to LUNAR DUST. During the development of the ARTEMIS program, which aims to put the first woman and another man on the moon by 2024 if the calendar is met. The US space agency does not want to make the same mistake of past travel and seek solutions for the annoying and dangerous moondust.

Lunar Dust is composed of small particles that adhere to everything. The problem is that it is abrasive and can damage spacesuits, electronic equipment, hatches and habitats. This dust can obscure the lens of the cameras, reduces the performance of electronic devices, distorts the reading of the instruments, if this annoying Polinzón enters the astronauts' rooms, it can lodge in their lungs, becoming a risk to their health.

Ideas should be focused on at least one of the following areas:

  • Preventing moondust and how to remove it during a moon landing.

* Improve the resistance and tolerance of spacesuits.

* And above all to help control the amount of space dust in the work area.

In this way, NASA offers up to 150,000 € 180,000 $ in the framework of the 2021 BIG IDEA CHALLENGE contest, for them these teams that must be made up of between five and twenty-five University students must develop systems and technologies that are capable of offering solutions however extravagant they may be to revisit the moon.
