Hello, I'm Jasmine. Today I want to campaign for the hashtag #A_MEAL_A_DAY. And I hope it goes viral. One of the benefits of steemit is the face that you get to empower your local community. If you can't introduce them to steemit because of some limitations, there's something else you can do to help.
With every passing day, the number of street kids are on the increase. With little or no food, shelter, clothing and education. A lot of emphasis has been laid on orphanages and these Street kids have been neglected to rot.
So with the introduction of #A_MEAL_A_DAY, we can contribute to their survival.
Recently, primary school teachers reported that, there has been an increase in the record of fainting among school children, which they attributed to hunger.
Having witnessed one of the incident, I decided to interrogate those children.
Shockingly, I found out that above 73% go to school with an empty stomach, some with little or no hope of eating when school day's over.
In my own little capacity, and the privilege of having a primary school teacher for a mother. From my little savings from being a sales girl and the allowance I get as a student, I took it upon myself to distribute snacks to these children at lunch breaks with the help of my mother. I know this ain't enough, but I hope to increase it to a more solid food when my income increases.
We will reduce the rate of deaths among children and adults, if we can give someone #A_MEAL_A_DAY. And I hope this campaign trends.
