You hardly find argument in our house between Me and My siblings whenever my Dad get new day hold chicks. This is because we love seeing new things especially anything pertaining to Agriculture.

The only thing that can cause fight is who will feed and take care of the chicks,you know little children love seeing new things, whenever my dad called me to go and check on those bird, you will see my brothers murmuring, they want to be the one checking on them.But let those new chicks reach 4 weeks old then you will now see my brothers running away from them because the chicks are now old.

Poultry is a type of farming system that deals with raising domesticated birds such as chickens,ducks,turkey and geese for many reasons which will be later mention. In this post we are not going to be talking about all the poultry birds. we will emphasize more on chicken
CHICKEN
These are types of domesticated fowls which are the most common and widely spread domestic animal and are mostly kept for egg and meat production.
Characteristics of Chicken
- Chickens posses feather, tail, ear lobes, comb, wattle, wing, foot and claw
- They lay eggs
- They are in many color and size.
- They lay up to 365 eggs in a year if properly reared.
Importance of chicken
- Meat Production: Any chicken raised to produce meat is called Broilers and most of the typical broilers have white feathers and are yellowish in skin
- Egg production: The chicken that are raised in other to produce egg are called Layers. Most of them lay up to 365 eggs in a year if they are properly raised/reared.
- Oil Production: There are some chicken raised in other to produce oil, they have many fat in them and this speed up the rate of oil production.Example of the chicken that are good in oil production is broilers.

- There are over 200 breeds of chicken in the world
- chickens do communicate with one-another and have modes of vocalization in which they tell warnings of predators, dangers, presence of food etc.
- They also knows their hierarchy power; so therefore they respect one-another.
- They do have dreams as we humans do
- They have a memory capacity that can identify up to 100 faces of members of their breed
- The most amazing part is that Cock do lay (this is if they reach a certain level of aging).
- There are some hens that do lay up to 365 eggs if they are properly reared.
