I’ve just finished settling into a new place, and finally have enough space to sit down with my laptop and write!
I decided to up and move to a much tinier room in a much shittier town (Arlington). The upside is that I can walk or bike to school in less than ten minutes!
BEFORE
Anyways, on first seeing my room, I knew there was no way I could fit all my stuff. I have several toolboxes, a big dog and her crate, lots of books, a safe, clothes, drafting table, and a big lizard cage. My new room is less than a quarter of my last place!
Since day one, my plan has been the same: build a platform bed and stuff bulky items underneath, then build a shelving and storage unit in the space between the wall and mattress.
The process has been pretty smooth so far, considering my lack of carpentry experience. I paid about $100 for the lumber and hardware and spent about 12 hours working on it.
