When you’re blue-pilled you feel outrage and anger toward people who disagree with you politically. When you’re red-pilled you feel disappointment and pity for those who disagree with you. It’s like feeling sorry for a friend stuck in a cult, hoping eventually they’ll escape but you cannot force them to break free. If you force them free against their will, they will run right back to their cult as soon as they can.
In a sense, blue-pilled people are in a cult. They have been brainwashed by the Cathedral (media plus academia) to be self-righteous in their irrational beliefs, to believe they are on the “right side of history”—always and forever—and anyone who disagrees with them is either evil, racist, sexist, or fascist (or all at the same time). They cannot conceive of any possible reason others may honestly disagree with their political beliefs. To consider that possibility—that they might be biased—or even wrong—would result in massive cognitive dissonance from contradictory information that would prove their worldview illogical. To avoid such cognitive dissonance, the blue-pilled person must direct anger and outrage toward anyone threatening to break the matrix of their manufactured worldview. They cannot process any information that would prove their beliefs wrong.
The red-pilled mind is different in that they understand the blue-pilled mind. Red-pilled people know blue-pilled people are NPCs (non-player characters) in a simulated reality constructed by the Cathedral. There is little to no thought behind an NPC’s beliefs, therefore it foolhardy to blame NPCs for their beliefs. The red-pilled person can try to help blue-pilled friends or family members escape Plato’s cave, but you cannot force someone to swallow the red pill. Each individual can only do that themselves when they are ready and willing. Until then… Morpheus is not angry at Thomas Anderson, rather sorry that he has not yet decided to become Neo.
