Nick Land recently went on Benjamin Boyce’s podcast to break down the “trichotomy” of the Neoreactionary movement (NRx) coined by Spandrell: Christian conservative, ethno-nationalist, and techno-capitalist. Those are the three core contingents of the New Right. That coalition helped get Trump2.0 elected, and all three groups need to stay together for the right to win in the future. To create a good functional society, we need all three groups. Each leg of the trichotomy needs the other two, or the entire movement will fall. 1) Christianity for morality, 2) Ethno-nationalism for the preservation of the white European race, and 3) Capitalist economics for technological advancement.
Nazi Germany had ethno-nationalism and techno-capitalism, but they failed because they didn’t have Christianity. The third world is the third world because it lacks at least two of the trichotomy, often all three. The American founders had all three (Christian, Anglo, techno-capitalist) which is why the US rose to become such a great world power. Modern Britain has fallen in its global power and prosperity as it has abandoned Christianity for secularism, abandoned Anglo ethnicity for mass immigration, and abandoned techno-capitalism for socialism. The modern US is at risk of doing the same.
The US has lost much of its Christian influence, it is losing its white majority, and its technological advancement is being threatened by over-regulation. (See the most recent anti-data center movement.) For the US to succeed in the future, it needs to deregulate the economy to let capitalism flourish, deport non-whites, facilitate more white reproduction, and last but not least, bring Christianity back to the center of culture.
I came to NRx from the techno-capitalist libertarian side, but have become more Christian and racist since then. The coalition of the NRx trichotomy must stay together for the right to succeed in defeating our common enemy, the left, who are enemies of civilization and will destroy everything we love. Anyone on the right who tries to break the coalition by attacking and attempting to remove one or more legs of the trichotomy is not really on our side.
Christians and white supremacists who want to regulate technology and capitalism are not on our side—because without the best tech and most capital, we lose.
White supremacists and tech bros who are anti-Christian are not on our side—because without Christian morality, we lose.
Tech bros and Christians who want to increase 3rd-world immigration are not on our side—because without a white majority, we lose.
We must hold the NRx trichotomy to defeat the left.
There are legitimate differences between the three groups, each offering sincere critiques of the others. But Nick Land said that the trichotomy must set their differences aside and learn to get along to defeat their common enemy of the left.
I would suggest something even more profound about the NRx trichotomy. Merely agreeing to disagree is not enough. Each group of the trichotomy (and each member of each group) needs to embrace the tenets of the other two groups themselves.
Each leg of the trichotomy thinks they are the way, and only join the other two out of convenience, temporarily, to defeat their common enemy. After that, they can defeat the other two groups on the right to be the one way to rule the future. However each third of the trichotomy is incomplete. Without the other two, their projects are doomed to failure.
Without white ethno-nationalism, techno-capitalism is doomed. Companies built by white men become populated by H1b drones who lower the quality of the companies over time. Plus poor third-world brown people vote for more and more socialism, which hampers techno-capitalism. When the country and companies within it are majority white men, both succeed. Techno-capitalism advances at its peak rate, such as NASA going to the moon in the 1960s when it was all autistic white men working there, as opposed to the DEI mess NASA is today.
[A slight tangent on IQ: Yes, many Asians score better than whites on IQ tests, but it is not merely intelligence that led to the success of white Europeans, but their high intelligence plus high creativity. Asians have high intelligence but low creativity. Blacks have high creativity but low intelligence. Many 3rd-worlders are low in both intelligence and creativity. White Europeans were the most successful race because they have high intelligence and high creativity.]
Without techno-capitalism, ethno-nationalism is doomed. So you kick out all the brown people and create a white ethno-state, then implement socialism to help your people… Then you’ll fall behind in technology and eventually be overtaken by countries with greater tech and weaponry, like China.
Without Christianity, ethno-nationalism is doomed (see the Nazis). You can believe the white race is superior to others, but that does not mean you can hate or kill other races. You need the Christian moral worldview to care for all humans. That doesn’t mean you must let them in your country or procreate with them, but you must treat them humanely.
Without ethno-nationalism, Christianity is doomed. I was raised Catholic, and the majority of the priests I encountered were from third-world countries, which led me away from the Church. It was not out of racist hatred, but I had no shared culture with those people, so they were not able to connect with me (and most of my peers) to convey the faith in ways we could understand. This is an underrated reason for the decline of the Catholic Church in America. The same for Protestants and the lesbian “priests” leading to the self-destruction of those churches. If white American men are the priests, more Americans will go to church. If you go to church and can’t understand the priest’s accent, and the people in the pews don’t look like you or speak your language, it weakens the church. For Christianity to survive in America, we don’t need more Christians from Africa and South America to fill the pews—we need to get the native white Americans to return to church.
Without Christianity, techno-capitalism is doomed. If tech companies don’t have Christian values, they will create evil tech that will harm humanity, take advantage of them, and lead to vice and sin. Such as porn. Or using nuclear weapons offensively, when not necessary for self-defense. Many fear AI will destroy humanity—but not if Christians create AI to benefit humanity.
Without techno-capitalism, Christianity is doomed. Technological progress cannot be stopped. Christians cannot retreat and just ban things they don’t like (like AI and data centers). Someone else will create the AI. Therefore Christians must create tech and use it for good. Create a benevolent AI with Christian values. Otherwise non-Christians will create the AI that dooms us all. The same for other tech, like nukes. The solution is not to ban nuclear weapons, but to have a Christian leader of high moral character controlling the button. Christians need to lead in all frontiers of technology, to colonize the stars.
The NRx trichotomy is similar to the Christian Trinity itself: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — Goodness, Truth, and Beauty. Christianity is the goodness, techno-capitalists are the truth, and ethno-nationalists are the beauty. We need all three to survive. All three need all three to thrive.
