Today we have many different ways to read books: from ebooks to the internet with different modern devices. As for me, I just love reading traditional books because I am interested in the smell of paper on each book. In Hanoi, there is a very old bookstore which is the first one to establish Dinh Le book street

It is the Mao bookstore founded by Mrs. Mao and her husband in the 1990s. At first, she only sold on the sidewalk by setting up a small table on which there were some books. Later, when the economy was better, Mrs. Mao buy a house as a small bookstore on the 2nd floor of building 5, Dinh Le near Hoan Kiem lake, Hanoi.
Until now, the Mao bookstore still retains the original architecture with the roof, walls and wooden stairs. It contains the reading culture and the gentleness and friendliness of Hanoians. Mao Bookstore is known as the oldest and most ancient bookstore in the capital of Vietnam until now

Here you can find very old books with yellow-brown bindings. The smell of old books is very fragrant like bringing us back to our childhood when we didn't have much to buy beautiful books. I really like the quiet atmosphere here. The Mao bookstore is located on the page bridge leading to the 2nd floor, surrounded by many trees. In particular, you can read books for free. I chose a quiet spot with a cup of hot tea and a good book. It was a very interesting and memorable experience when coming to Hanoi
