Thanks, Dan. For starters, as pertains to the recognition of abuse, there was a very cool little front end that helped people see which accounts are getting flagged, and it was sortable by weight. Unfortunately, it looked like the dev shut it down, but maybe they'd be willing to part with the code? Please do not quote me on this, but it may have been something that emrebeyler had created, but I'm not 100% sure and could be wrong about that. Also, @logiczombie posited a dispute resolution system called ALGORAND (not the crypto platform) to help solve malicious DVs. I noticed on many comments where he suggested this that many STEEM/HIVE users were impressed with the notion. It seems like a flexible thing that could get applied in a variety of ways. I'm thinking targeting a handful of different active users every time would be paramount to its success. I've tagged him in this comment so that perhaps he can come to explain the concept, as he's way smarter about ALGORAND than I am.
