Linux was made by passionate people who volunteered their time to create something great. It may not have been born from greed, but rather out of necessity which as they say is the mother of invention. Perhaps capitalism afforded some of these coders the opportunity to not only make a comfortable living but also be charitable with their time. In a communist society where the wealth of the individual is crippled by sharing the fruits of your labor with everyone else, many of Linux programmers might have been forced to worked more than forty hours a week providing them no extra time to volunteer, innovate, or create.

I think it would be interesting to see if we could get the numbers on what percentage of Linux contributors hail from the so-called socialist countries of today. If both previous and present forms of government in the last century are not truly representative of socialism, then how can you be so certain that it will be successful without having a working model? Why not get a group of like-minded people together, buy a parcel of land and do socialism the right way, you can document it all on the blockchain and show us how (or if) it works.

Even if you can make it work, a key factor in its success would be the voluntary nature of it. Unless you plan on executing, punishing, and or persecuting people who choose to leave or not comply with the rules that you've set forth. In that case, it would probably be more of a violent cult. I'd go the voluntary route as it is always much more popular with everyone involved, not to mention the fact that it doesn't break any laws, or violate anyone's life, liberty, or property. I'm guessing that there would be a pretty extensive contract involved which would clearly outline the basics for those who choose to volunteer to live in said society. If rules are broken or flagrantly ignored, those people can be ejected from the group and kicked off of the land.
