The Weddell seal are by far one of my favourite animals to see when I am working down on the most southern continent on the planet. They do have an adorable little head when compared to their huge bodies. Also, for some reason they always appear to be smiling for a photo.
These seals are the most southern breeding mammals in the world. This is due to them remaining close to the Antarctic continent during the winter time, which is pretty damn impressive considering it can drop to -80 degrees at some regions. Either way, in the summer season it always makes me smile when I encounter these big mammals on the shore taking a nap and looking not only comfortable but also happy about it.
