Rockhopper penguins are a pretty funky looking penguin. Their red eyes and yellow tuffs make them quite an amazing bird to photograph but the way that they move on the terrain is what really makes them amazing. This is due to as the name suggests they typically will hop along rather than waddle like most other penguin species.

Well, I was exploring around the Falkland Islands/Malvinas this past summer season and I was determined to get a photo of one mid-air. It took quite a long time of watching these little guys until I decided to turn around as a Rockhopper penguin came out of the ocean and began to hop along the shoreline.

I was happy and lucky enough to snap this little guy mid-air, as he made his way along the shoreline back to the breeding colony. Overall, I was quite happy with the result.
