Believe it or not but there are actual things called "penguin highways" that the penguins will use to move from their nests to the ocean. These highways are a single line trail become more pronounced as the summer season progresses and the snow melts. It can also mean for a nice photo moment, as you watch them waddling along one by one along the highway.

Also, since they always walk that same line time after time it can allow you the opportunity to position yourself near that highway. If you are patient, quiet and still the penguins will become very comfortable with your presence and will waddle their way quite close to you out of natural curiosity.
