When you have humpbacks surrounding your small zodiac, it is nothing short of memorable. Now, when you have humpbacks curiously swimming over to and under your vessel ~ that is heart stopping. This rare, close encounter happened to me a few days ago when I was zodiac cruising an area on the Antarctic peninsula known as Antarctic sound. The region had 30 + humpbacks scattered over a few miles and made watching them from the zodiacs very easy.
It isn't until you have one of these massive gentle giants swim right up to that you truly appreciate just how big they really are and also just how intelligent and curious they are about us, as we are about them
