The sun was out and the wind kicked up, which didn't stop me heading out in search of a pod of Bigg's orca (mammal hunters) reported in that area. After searching in 4 - 5 foot waves I made contact with 7 animals that looked to be foraging and hunting. Before long, they surfaced metres from my vessel with no warning and had what was left of a seal being dragged in one of their mouths.
It a was a fun day that ended up being a tad adventurous due to the wind conditions but well worth it with a random and unexpected close encounter whilst they enjoyed a shared family meal that was once a harbour seal. Gotta love nature
