Humpback whales have a place in my heart that no other animal will ever have, as I have spent so much time with them in Australia, Canada and in Antarctica. Regardless of how much time I have spent with them over the years in various places in the world, every time I have the opportunity to hang out with them my heart does tend to skip a beat.
This big girl I sighted whilst we were zodiac cruising in an area called Paradise Harbour, which is quite a beautiful and protected harbour on the Antarctic peninsula. I know it was a female based on a calf that was always close by and the fact she was a huge whale! Simply because males just don't really get that big.
