I haven't really spent a proper Christmas in years, which is largely due to my work commitments during this period in other parts of the world. I am very much missing not being around the Antarctic peninsula this year, which so are my colleagues and friends whom I am lucky to work with are too.
My first Christmas on the peninsula I ended up snapping this photo in a bay in the Lemaire Channel, as we zodiac cruised around this region before lunch on Christmas Day 2017. Still makes me smile that I got the opportunity not just to interact with an apex predator of the Antarctic waters but took a photo of this powerful young lady enjoying a nap on a piece of ice in the sun on Christmas.
