Large pieces of ice can be quite common when you are exploring the Antarctic region. However, every once in a while you come across a piece of ice so large photos and words do not to it justice. This was the case when we came across a piece of ice that was so large it had even been given a name, A68a.
How Big is it?
Well, it was around the range of 152 km x 48km a few months ago... When we encountered it in early March it took us 5 hours to sail around it due to its size. However, it was such an exciting 5 hours with numerous humpback whales, fin whale and pods of orca sighted over that time.
