Humpback whales have a really large fluke/tail in comparison to their body size. It is also a very easy way to identify humpback whales from a long distance, as they are one of the only species that will arch their back and present their fluke when they descend for a longer, deeper dive. Interestingly, it is also a way in which we can identify individual humpbacks, as their fluke is unique to them, which acts like a fingerprint.
The population of these gentle giants has grown quite considerably in the past few decades along the Antarctic peninsula, which is awesome. Especially, as they are one of my favourite animals in the world to interact with in the wild - so I luckily enough get to interact with theses whales quite frequently when I am down in Antarctica working as a guide.
