After a few days of rain, we eventually had some dry weather. I noticed my grape plant has turned lush and is now bearing flowers and needs some support, so I thought I would make a little trellis for it and see if I could get fruit (if the weather turns good).
I had never overwintered this plant, so I originally thought it was dead. Then suddenly, vigorous new shoots appeared.
I have a few canes and some old foundation still standing in the garden. I simply pushed the canes firmly into the ground and secured them with garden string.
Then I gently guided the vines to where they should go, and hopefully they will naturally creep along the bamboo canes and garden string.
It seems happy enough with its new trellis, and it feels sturdy enough (fingers crossed for heavy winds).
Hopefully this will lead to some fruit in the summer.
Have a lovely day.
