I have been visiting some different art clubs in Baltimore. In my adventures, I have discovered two more great ways to communicate and share art. I have found zines and experimental music.
The music appeared to me one night while at an art club, where I was doing a native American flute journey. The young kids there were playing music. The music was odd yet offered a very strong energy to present awareness.
I found myself intrigued and wanting more. I then went on the internet to discover its called experimental music, or ambient music or drone music.
Bandcamp.com has a ton of artists that offer free listens to this music. I highly suggest visiting them and buying a few tracks to support the artist. Most are only a dollar. But that dollar really has some great benefits. It creates smiles.
So I started making music. Oh wait... let me back up..
No.. I actually started this Zine. I saw these in a bookstore and was amazed at how simple they were, how real and raw they were also. Handcrafted and personal.
I am calling the Zine " The life of Bug Jello" . I created a character and named him Bug Jello. His name is one that would make anyone look up from their phone.
Bug Jello is an awakened soul. The zines are all about how to live after awakening. I refer awakening as the act of crossing over from being a character to knowing your true presence as ??..... Stillness, Being, THAT, Silence, Space, What, Warmth, Consciousness, Present Awareness, Knowingness, Beloved, Freedom.... and the list goes on.
So now I have these Zines and some music.
I am working on putting together a presentation that incorporates a reading of the zines along with music that I have written and recorded.
