Ashamed to be American

I'm ashamed to be American,

I have no points of pride,

We've lost all that we had before,

In this nation where I reside,

The bankers and their politicians,

Have made off with all they could,

They've made a farce of our whole system,

But say that it's all good,

Or take Big Pharma and those alike,

Who have robbed us of our future,

They've left us with a gaping wound,

And charge a fortune for the suture,

But we the people are not guiltless,

Not all blame lies on the elite,

With poor ethics and despondent ways,

Some falls before our feet,

I do not know that there is hope,

That we can make a change,

To unite behind a better system,

That does not seem in range,

Look to the contest of our future leader,

Between a cheetoh and a witch,

The worse of which I do not know,

The prospects are a bi***
