When planning our trip to Yosemite, we knew that we absolutely must see at least one waterfall during our excursions. My younger sister and I had previously visited Bridal Veil Falls on our last trip, and we knew those trails were too tough with two small children in tow. Exploring Yosemite with kids is quite a different experience than going without and requires careful planning and some research. We decided to hike the Lower Yosemite Falls trail, as we would still see spectacular views of the waterfall, there was little elevation, and the trail was nicely paved.

Thanks to my sister, I only had to carry around one child when he got tired instead of carrying two! He walked quite a bit as well, so I think I got the better end of the deal.

Beauty surrounded us. The Lower Falls itself was packed with tourists. After drinking our fill of the awe-inspiring, rushing water, we trekked the short trail loop.

How much many people miss by not making that journey. The trail itself was gorgeous at every turn.

Writing this post reminds me of how blessed we were to have this experience together. Yosemite will always hold a special place in my heart since it was our first great adventure as a forever family! If you are planning a vacation for yourself or your family, I highly encourage you to put this at the top of the list.
