Another day for a good business blog and when it comes to business one thing remains the most important thing to consider.
If you want to start any business at all in the world, before you start it the most question you should ask yourself and make sure that you've got the right answer is this:
What value is my business providing and who values it? The value your business will provide will either be in a form of a product or service. If you get that right and infact it can be any product or service at all.
I don't think it's wise to merely look into the world, see which business is doing well and try to build that business just because you think it's a trending business. I believe that any product at all can be sold as long as the business person can do a good job of locating the customers.
Almost any product is important to someone in the world and if you ask a business person can get the product to that particular customer, you can make a sale regardless of whether the product is trending or not.
If you're talking price with a customer, chances are you're standing before the wrong customer. Yes many people but stuff because it's affordable but the majority of people but something because they need or want it. So if you can explain to your customer how important or necessary it is for them to buy your product, I think price will no longer be an issue at all.
As a business person or sales person, if you get the chance to meet up with a potential client or customer, try to control the conversation away from the price of the product.
Let me give you a classical example. Assuming a rich man enters a Ferrari shop, I don't think they're going to spend 1 hours trying to bargain on a Ferrari. They don't tell the manager "why is this so expensive, even Toyota Corolla is cheaper" no they don't and for good reason.
The reason is because Ferrari company has been able to vividly and explicitly explained not just to their customers but the world about their value proposition. The Ferrari is prestigious, has good driving performance and a statement piece that you are a successful person if you own one. This is why it will be way easier to sell a Ferrari to a customer than a Toyota because the Ferrari customer is there for the value of the car but a lot of Toyota customers are there to buy the most affordable car they can get to drive. (No offence to any Toyota brand lover here).
Now this concept can easily be translated to any business it doesn't have to be a luxury brand. If you have a product and you know that the product you're selling is good, you should learn the skill of persuading your clients or customers to only see the value their getting.
Never ever say that a customer should buy your product just because it's cheap. Yes being affordable can be a good reason why someone purchasing something but I don't think people go out of their homes to malls to spend their hard earned money on random things because they're cheap. They go out to buy things that they need or want. Remember that's the primary reason why a customer comes to your shop or business so you need to be able to persuade the customer even more on why your product is valuable and I bet you'll get a sale almost every single time.
I hope this helps a business person somewhere.
