I know that LeoFinance is working on a microblogging solution via comments on Hive, as opposed to posts. I'm quite interested to see how this works out.
However it seems that Dbuzz already experimented with comments (they're currently using posts). Quote of one of their devs 
There are bottleneck issues with the comments solution has been tested and didn't work
What are those bottlenecks? What are the pros/cons of using comments?
I guess the biggest reason is to differentiate long-posts & short-posts which prevents auto-voting for short-posts. But I've got the feeling that this is a bandaid solution. Looking forward to some input.
