“…tomorrow and plans for tomorrow can have no significance at all unless you are in full contact with the reality of the present, since it is in the present and only in the present that you live.” – Alan Watts.

The Quiet In-Between the Noise

It might be during our quiet moments of life that we tend to look around and think that we are not getting much done in the world, or that we’re not accomplishing our goals quickly enough.

It may also be during those quiet times that we find a chance to look around, and to realize that consciousness itself is now pouring into the world through us, and that in fact we are the only possible conduit through which that consciousness can enter the physical world.

It’s a Tough Job, But Somebody’s Got To Do It

Humanity was assigned a huge task and an overwhelming responsibility during the early parts of the 20th century, when physicists began to claim that ’until it is actually observed, the universe is only a potential universe, one that is simply waiting to be ‘noticed’ into existence.’

Of course we humans were then expected to assist those physicists in bringing consciousness into the world so that the world could exist, or so that we could all exist in it, but most people were too busy to be bothered with such a dull chore.

Finding the Time to Allow a Universe to Exist

Humanity is good at building soon-to-be worlds and tearing down older ones, and as a collective tool of this humanity, the group’s mind is quite busy with this ongoing business. There’s really just no time to sit around allowing consciousness into the world, and generally it is presumed that such hocus-pocus is done by qualified experts perched on remote mountaintops in robes, and is not something that is attempted by the average joe.

Qualified Experts Needed

We humans have conditioned ourselves to presume that while we are all probably on some kind of spiritual quest here, we probably aren't going to actually go on that quest.

Quests are often made to sound daunting, and none of us quite have the time to go and meditate for fifty years to attain the enlightenment needed to bring some quality consciousness into the world, trying to become true spiritual beings before the end. The bills are tight this month, the holidays are upon us, and who would feed the cats?

How Hard Can it Be?

Finding myself in-between jobs on occasion, it was on one of those occasions that I realized that I had a little bit of free time to help out with the Noticing a Universe Into Existence thing, and maybe if I could learn how to do it then it could be my new job.

I could become one of the robed dudes, a conduit of consciousness, allowing the rest of humanity a universe to exist in. The pay: One fresh new universe, to be shared among us all.

Today’s superhero doesn’t fly around saving the world from the bad guys; that’s kid stuff. Instead, I would be piping pure consciousness into the world like a pro, expertly allowing the universe to exist by observing it with the greatest vigor, and when they tried to praise me for it, I would shrug and say “It was nothing.”

It Actually Is Nothing

The first thing I noticed when I started my new job as pure consciousness was that there was a lot going on in my head!

I listened to what I was thinking about, and heard a passionate dialogue going on in there. It was like a little devil, ”look at all of the past worlds, how they rusted and soured, why bother with a new one?” while on the other shoulder another one, dressed like an angel, ”remember, there is still hope, and things will be brighter in heaven, someday!”

It was those loquacious Ego twins, always concerned about how the world was or what it might become, but I found that ‘they’ were really just one imaginary distraction from my great work, and was soon able to professionally ignore their chatter.

Walking Between the Raindrops

At first, sneaking a little bit of consciousness through that gauntlet of ego seemed impossible, but with half of my thoughts going back into a remembered past and the other half dashing into an imaginary future, I could see the way through the middle and I passed between the raindrops, between past and future. That was when consciousness poured in through that space, the purest I’d seen since my childhood.

On my first try, I observed the universe into existence for nearly a whole second!

The Mountaintop

That mountaintop where the wise guy is supposed to sit, it’s probably more like a ridge, with the guy’s past looming there on the one slope and his future gaping there on the other, as he teeters on the ‘now’ of the ridge, where everything is happening at once.

The ego part of mind, that little voice that tries to pull us off of the ridge like gravity, is hard to ignore, so the trick is to find the exact center of the ridge, where ‘this’ is it, so that the true universe is observed into existence instead of an imagined one.

As it turns out, observing the universe into reality isn't as difficult as I had imagined, and the best part is knowing that there is no spiritual quest to go on, because THIS IS IT!

if you’re still reading this; thanks for helping me to observe this exciting universe into existence!
