Four years ago Cape flattery in northern Queensland was flattened by a massive tropical cyclone, reaching landfall at category four on the Australian scale. It tracked inland, headed south and then went back out to sea missing Cairns entirely.
What we did get was a lot of rain and the runoff from the upper tablelands emptys into the Cairns northern suburbs causing flash flooding and and a spectacular show at the local hydro electricity plant. Jai, Kyle and myself jumped into to turbo landcruiser and headed up to check it out, here is the photos i shot on the adventure.
Freshwater creek in a suburb called Redlynch, this was the first indication of the extent of flooding.

Heading over the Barron River we see the water is up 30 feet, the gorge is near.
On arrival to the power station we are met with a raging torrent water, giving us a sense of nausea walking out further over the bridge.
