There is also a very shameful phenomenon with regard to the selection of godparents, and it is that many times parents do not establish their selection criteria based on trust, friendship, or close contact with potential godparents, but only the economic aspect is the factor to consider when selecting someone.
The better economic position you show, so you will have greater and better qualities to be selected as a Godparent.
With this, the parents intend to guarantee financial support (perhaps food, medicine, clothes, shoes, toys ...) in the life of their child.
In most cases, the selection of godparents is made for vain reasons and emotion of the moment, which means that over the years, the godparents and their godson do not have frequent contact.
Conclusion
The appointment of Godparents for our children must be made considering aspects of trust, values , and family contact. Financial interests should never be placed before the nomination and selection of Godparents.
The Godparents should be people close to the family nucleus who demonstrate moral integrity, good customs, and feelings and should be people who can give exemplary education to their Godchildren. That would be an ideal Godparents.
