My pups and I spend lots of time on the rocks down at the James River- one of my favorite places on Earth- great for grounding the soul.
All of these pics were taken yesterday at various places on the river. Obviously the river is a bit flooded right now- lots of rain as of late.
If you ever visit Richmond be sure to hike each one of the parks in the James River Park System- it really is the crown jewel of this city as far as I'm concerned. For you fisherman the James offers some of the best river fishing on the east coast with everything from small mouth bass, walleye, stripers, and even shad.
As you can see in the pics below depending upon what section of the river you visit there's everything from awesome rapids great for kayaking to glassy smooth for excellent water skiing. The park system also has LOTS of mountain biking trails with varying degrees of difficulty.

Lots of places to explore- plenty of space to get away from it all right in the heart of the city. I'd venture to say that The James River Park system is one of the most awesome urban park systems in the world. Grateful!
