Judaism, Christianity, and Islam degrade women as well. Their scriptures state that only males are born in the image of God, not females, so females can never be holy. Their scriptures also state that only the holy will be allowed into their heaven, so that must, necessarily, exclude women. The Old Testament of the Jews and Christians states that if a man wants a woman, he can rape her and then she is obligated to marry him. In the New Testament of the Christians, women are forbidden to speak or learn in a church and bring shame if they fail to cover their heads when they pray. Many Muslim women wear head coverings and/or veils to hide themselves from the world, at the urging of the scriptures. In some Muslim areas of the world, women are required to cover themselves completely and are only permitted in public when accompanied by a male who is related to them. So, the degradation and hatred of women a much more far-reaching problem and not confined to just one religion. At least the Hindu religions acknowledge a feminine aspect of The Divine, so they have that advantage which the other aforementioned religions refuse to accept.
