Greetings everyone,

Winter Wanderland is a set soon to be released in gods unchained, and just like Light's Verdict, it is going to be open for a small amount of time, which is 1 month! This set contains 20 cards in it with 6 new legendary new cards, 6 epic ones and 8 rare!

Now there were some cards withing the Light's Verdict set that affected the game meta drastically (mainly Blade and Martyr) and other than were not that much useful when the set closed. So in this post I will be showcasing all of the new cards that will be released and giving my opinion on each of them. How good are they and how will they affect the game! So let us jump into it!

The Nature Cards

Fir Tree's Fury

nature 1.png

This card seems to be a really good one; one that fits in both control as well as aggro decks! 5 damage for 5 mana or getting a 1/1 creature instead can be helpful especially in the many situation where a lot of creatures are left with 1 HP. Now what defines if this card is OP or not is what is a Frosty Fruit and what does it do. This we will see soon!

Reinkeeper Selena

nature 2.png

Now if we look at it value way, for 6 mana you are getting 7/7 value of creatures, and the blitz creature can be helpful too. However, I feel like with 3 HP it will be tough for it to swing once to get more value from it so it is very situational where this card can be helpful.

Winter's Bounty

nature 3.png

Now I gotta say when I saw this card I was very surprised to say the least. It is the first card to allow a god to pass the 30 HP max which is very unique and interesting. Now the question is whether this card can find it's place in Control decks or not. I would say there are still better alternatives like compost charm which does enough healing by itself.

The War Cards

Take the Reins

war 1.png

This card can be good in many scenarios, especially against control deck where you can just keep chunking their HP and then just steal their strong like 8 mana creature and hit their face with it. Definitely a very interesting one and I feel it will see some use.

Woodcutter Imp

war 2.png

Yay more aggro war and rush decks! For 2 mana a 3 damage to the opponent god, maybe even 6 if swung twice is huge, despite you taking this damage too, war usually ends up outracing most of the opponents so I think we will see this one in many aggro decks!

Sleigh Master Valka

war 3.png

Even without blitz, this card is still annoying for 5 mana only, and I can not imagine it when it has blitz too! A lot of damage and good amount of HP definitely will be seen a lot around!

The Death Cards

Forst Queen Neferu

death 1.png

Now here I was confused; is it 2 damage for each time one of these happens, or 2 damage when all of these happen? First I expected it to be the first because otherwise it is almost useless, but then when I saw "and" at the end I got confused. If its for each time one of these happen it can be so helpful, if not I feel it is kind of useless! So it only makes sense to be the first possibility it should be "or" instead of "and".

Frozen Rest

death 2.png

I feel like there are already enough better sleep options and relic removals for death out there so I would expect this card not be seen that much especially not having any unique or special use!

Spirit Storm

death 3.png

Now this on the other hand, this I feel will make many decks come up or be better again especially with how much death replies on the afterlife of it's creatures. And being a 2 mana card only makes really useful in my opinions!

The Deception Cards

deception 1.png

Now this one also we can not judge it until we also find out what the Candy Link does, and how useful it is when you shuffle it to your opponent deck, is it good for aggro and does damage? Is it good for control and mess up his cards? I still do not know if this card released somewhere. If it was let me know down in the comments!

Orfeo in Wanderlands

orfeo.png

This one is excellent for Control decks, it can help clear strong frontlines for only 3 mana, and keep coming back! Definitely will be seen in Control deception deck and mainly instead of the main orfeo card for people who used to use it before!

Curious Wandercats

deception 3.png

I can not see why would this be a viable option anywhere in deception with counterfeit present! You can literally take control of your opponent relic for the same cost of mana so I think it will not be that useful!

The Light Cards

Merry Kadmos

try.png

This seems like a combination of many Light cards all in one. It is a Wrong Path combined with Forged in the Light and a 3/4 creature. I would say definitely a good alternative for anyone out there still using Wrong Path, but nothing more than that.

Guiding Light

light 1.png

Just like Light's Verdict, we are seeing a lot of Chosen One cards for Light in this set too! However, since we still did not see a wide presence of such decks after the last set, I still do not think this will make that big of a difference even in this set!

Thawed Heart

light 2.png

This one might be a tricky good Control Light card, especially against void using decks! So it shines especially against anubians, control Light and maybe a bit against card draw magic to make Pyrrhic a bit less valuable!

The Magic Cards

Snowshapper Pallas

magic 1.png

This card is a good alternative for Ratify or Pallas Incantation for anyoene still playing control magic out there! I have also recently seen a bit more use of Nythos which also makes this card a good alternative for it since you are basically killing the enemy creature.

Pallas' Wanderwagon

magic 2.png

With the current state of magic decks, I think the only place this card might fit is card draw. If you can make it survive one turn, switch HP for strenght next turn and hit face for a massive hit that can be very helpful! Although I still do not think it is a good choice for any deck since there are much better alternatives.

Avalanche Watcher

magic 3.png

This is a very interesting card to say the least. From the way it works, it seems like it does get the value of the mana spend on it, however, not having any ward or protected makes it a very vulnerable target. It seems fun to try but I doubt it will be meta!

The Neutral Cards

Unexpected Gift

neutral 1.png

Maybe this card might be decent in decks where you need to survive and at the same time you do not card for your opponent to survive. In this case it brings more value to your deck. Other than that I think it is somewhat mediocre and not that amazing!

The Reinnapper

neutral 2.png

This might come in handy in many situations to take control of the board early on! Maybe even also to stall the game a bit longer if you need to. However, since your opponent will be getting back his creature, it is not that overpowered of a card but still definitely useful I would say!

Final Thoughts

So as we can see, I do not think there are any cards in this set that are too fancy, or too overpowered. Each one have it's own use in specific situation and scenarios where it shines the most. Which makes it a lot more interesting to see to because this might also mean new decks coming out and being used more again!

I highly doubt thoug that any of these cards will be as good ass Blade or Martyr, that can be used anywhere and still be good and completely affect the meta all around! Which I say this is the way things should be like they are doing with Winter Wanderland. So I can not wait to see the new cards get released and see how the game state become!

That was it for this one, be sure to let me know in the comments which of the Winter Wanderland card is your favourite and why, and also let me know which card you think will shine the most! That was my personal opinion on each one of them and with that said I will see you all on the next one!

Mad Love, Peace out <3
