As you know, this was a military operation, so I had given the boon of minimum violence which I felt was very necessary.
You make a good point. Given the story, as you imagine it, violence was part of the action. However, when you write for the Inkwell, try to imagine scenes where violence isn't essential.
You really did a good job in editing this. It's true that as you imagined and first wrote this story it had more action. However, the price to pay for that action was blood and death. We don't like that here :)
You were given the opportunity to edit because you write regularly for the community, and we respect that. In the future, a curator might not give you the chance to edit, so please be careful.
It's great that you offer details about the motorcycle. Details add a sense of realism. It's also great that you put the young man in the place of being an underdog in the beginning of the story. Readers feel sympathy and respect for underdogs who prevail in the end.
Good story. Thank you for editing, and thank you for engaging with others in the community.
