Your story is packed with intrigue and shifting emotion. You handle the relationship between Aliera and Jelan wonderfully, giving us a sense of the fear the woman inspires. You lead us into battle and capture our complete attention - we’re rooting for Aliera. However, you do much more in your remarkable conclusion; you allow both protagonists to emerge as victors. Brilliantly done!

Just one note of caution- we ask authors who write for us on The Ink Well to avoid graphic descriptions of violence, such as the description you have in your piece about the horse’s violent, painful death. You’re new here so it’s not a problem. We would simply ask you to have this in mind for future submissions. We hope to see many more stories of this caliber by you.
