When we look at the world around us. There is billions of points. They all come together to form a pointless unit though. On a global scale, maybe to look at each person as a point. Probably a bit arrogant with the vast number of other species on the planet too. Or maybe there is only one point. That point is the beginning. It is the only point, all other points are there after joined to another and the beginning. Only the beginning stands as a single lone point.
The beginning of what?
Society.
It must have began somewhere and developed to what it is today. Maybe or maybe not I go back too far. Society began with family. A group of primates who already had sounds for different animals fruits. Gave count to the number of animals. They developed a word for different numbers. This gave rise to the forming of sentence.
A deeper level of communication was evolving and this tribe done better than all of the other tribes. Much like the Europeans did with America and other parts of the world. This tribe took advantage of the language skills they had to manipulate other tribes around them. Eventually building up a trading post. Taking advantage of those at even greater distance. A coastal tribe or tribe along a river bank.
Other villages began to use words from the traders for items. And added to the vocabulary with words for their own items. With time this trading post would be over run by a warrior tribe wanting the status the original tribe had built over generations. They had not the experience of trading and soon the trading post died. Maybe it was the original tribe who came back. But one tribe moved in to replace the warriors and succeeded. Trade even opened up with the warriors for items trey could not find elsewhere or were too much effort for warriors to mine.
These warriors would protect the resource they had found. An agreement was made that they would protect the trading post and the villages around it. For this they would get first choice of the metals the village traded. A new weapons maker also began working at the village and agreed he could make 50 arrow heads a week if he had the metal.
Fruit fish shellfish vegetables meats weapons jewellery all could be found at the trading post now.
The trading post had noticed it had needed help at times, and began a storage of goods for villages. Should a village ever come upon hard times.
Not really that hard for a trading center to get established and protected. Seems like something that would come about naturally among peaceful people.
International would have been intertribal back in those days. I doubt anyone here remembers those days. A civilised world does not look like it would take too much to form. The above is just one way. Another way is Natural expansion.
With natural expansion. As sons and maybe daughter grew up from a central point. They would move out of their village for various reasons. Overpopulation of an area might be one of those. The expansion would be in one direction to begin with at least. To expand one side would be to go back from where they came. Already a populated area. Moving along a coast line. Expansion would move in one direction.
Coming across new challenges that what not present in other locations. The different forming groups in new settlements develop new skills. These skills tend to follow along the path of expansion. Previous settlements fall behind of the new technologies. New words new languages as they came across language cultures. Trade would begin when someone figures out that trading back along the line of settlements could be profitable. A trade route begins and eventually he has too much to carry and needs to select a place to settle. A town grows around it.
Similar things happen and a security force is found to protect the trading route and settlements along the route.
A few settlements surrounding a central point. Sounds a bit like a small town to me,
The workings of the new society. Did they start out with agenda intent. Or develop through a natural course to what they become. For the vast part. I would say to this level. Things grow very natural. One might have had a vision of something and took advantage of it. Gaining something the others did not. But the overall town were many took advantage of the skills they had and wares to sell.
And in there lies the problem. To Sell.
