It is not too far beyond imagination to think, we might one day colonize other solar systems or even other galaxies. We do not know the limitations held today will hold forever. Advances in both medicine and technology. Might be all that in needed.

Bringing down the time for travel. This could take extreme advances in technology.

Generations of travellers might take flight across space to inhabit other worlds.

Regulations are set down for protocols on reaching an inhabited planet. Interference with the development of an alien species prohibited. Intelligent life, if capable of developing technologies is resident. The planet may not be claimed.

Use of technologies we developed to enslave another planet is prohibited. All of the things you would not like to happen. Should an alien race visit earth. We are not allowed to do at other planets.

The asteroid belt was mined for resources. Space stations were built to crush collected asteroids down to dust and then process the minerals within. Left over materials were used to begin construction of other stations in space. Initial fears of causing an asteroid to alter course and hit the earth. Although at the time it was the main fear people had. It turned not to be an issue at all.

The altered b distribution of weight throughout the solar system, began to alter the orbit of all planets. In consequence, The gravity of the Sun began to outweigh the gravity from the other regions of our system. In effect, the Earth began to fall in to the sun.

The whole planet and space stations became dedicated to building spaceships to travel to other systems. We had suicided our planet in to the sun.

Each ship was built to have multiple systems that could support each other. In the event of one system breaking down, several back-ups were available.

The ships are enormous. Bigger than most countries, in usable space. 500KM x 300KM and 25 levels, 30 meters apart. That Each floor has a decking 18 meter thick with 12 meter head room. Some levels have a larger spacing to accommodate for extremely large objects. It is also designed to pick up space junk should we find any.

Our children's children would have a new home.

Throughout the journey, each generation would tutor the next on the workings of the station. Farming, computing, environment, poetry painting, all of the arts. Mechanical, metalwork woodwork, all trades, social studies, humanities and sciences are studied. Each generation passes the knowledge they have to 3 other people.

Each ship has the capacity to cater to 65 million people in comfort and began with 2.5 million.

Needless to say. It was not long before control over the ship was sought out by individuals. Rather than abide by committee rules agreed upon. All it took was one choice, one person did not like.

By the time this ship reached it's planet. A population of 42 million was on board. And the rules of law. They were decided by the captain for the last 3 generations.

Division among the ranks and loyalty's were known, but not openly discussed. There is a rebellion group. The second in command is said to be its leader, But that is just rumour.

We reached our planet. Stationary orbit above the poles for surveillance.
