I've got a guy who I work with who is in a bit of a pickle. Because of a few bad decisions and some poor timing, his licence was lost due to driving under the influence. He is a great worker, but he is in a situation where he is kind of screwed into staying where we work because of the results of his actions many years later.

Long story short, he is unable to drive a car in Michigan until he goes through a series of alcoholic classes. Sounds easy, right? well, the catch is that these classes need to be taken in Texas. The 2nd big clincher is that he can't just binge take these classes, nor allow too much time to pass between taking them. He needs to slowly take classes over the course of many months before he is off the hook. He must go out of state to get it done, but he would surely lose his job by the time he would be able to drive on his own again. He has saved enough money to buy a car, but he would be unable to insure it to be able to take it off the lot. He has been sober for years, but isn't able to finish the trap that he has fallen into

The Main Point

Not ever situation in our lives are always straight forward, and not all of our obstacles are as obvious as my friend from work. However, even in his situation where his obstacles are staring him in the face daily, it still isn't necessarily easy to conquer them by knowing what they are. I am constantly telling him to do what he can where he is while he continues to gain wealth for his transition. As I was reminded a while back from the motivational speaker "Les Brown," it's always better to be prepared and not have an opportunity come your way, than to have an opportunity come your way and not be ready for it.

He said that he use to do coding back in the day. I told him to learn whilst at home through online resources. He told me his interest in music and his past of being in choir in school. I told him to seek out groups that sing together, such as, barber shop quartets ans such. The problem though, is that he has yet to really get the bigger picture. He is so focused on the worries about what is going wrong in his life, that he isn't able to see himself out of it. He, much like friends of my past, are planning out his future freedom taking place after some kind of event, not realizing that the change needs to take place now.

Hell, I have so many things that I feel that I need to learn before I can get some of the wild things that I want to do, but instead of worrying about how I have so far to go, I just try my hardest at trying to be that person who understands. I literally bought so many courses at the beginning of the year through Udemy, to learn about animation, programming, and the use of a few complicated programs. None of those programs are easy to use and I've never programmed anything before, but it has become a habit in me to just shut up and do the work. You know what? The amazing thing is that even though I could get maybe 2 hours of sleep for a few nights of the week, it is my passion that gives me the energy to keep strong. I haven't gotten tired at work nor too often while I'm studying because once you get beyond this idea that it's hard, these difficult tasks become routine and the simple life around you becomes almost silly to worry about

Something amazing happens once you have a purpose everyday. You stop caring about the nonsense around you. You start to only care about doing what is beneficial, and you will feel amazing all the time like I do. I don't have bad days at work anymore. It's like, as if, I don't want to bother with not having a great time because it's non conducive to my flow... Oh well... just a passing thought.

Thanks for reading and take care!
