This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types
A little into Mt Moon and in another section accessed by a ladder, a Team Rocket member was rambling about them being Pokemon Gangsters and picked a fight with Goliath.
The battle started with his Clefairy that was originally met with Rattata but instead, Jigglypuff was brought out and after getting a first sing to put Clefairy to sleep, well it was time to use Pound and get some damage going right away!
Jigglypuff was defeated after getting a good amount of damage done and could be swapped for Venonat. With a couple of tackles and taken some hits itself, Venonant finished off the Clefairy, Rattata gained another level for being out in the first place, the other Pokemon got defeated by Goliath and he grabbed any nearby items before taking the ladder back to the previous section.
Another battle with a trainer, this was a Super Nerd and he had a Tentacool, something yet to be battled. It was strong with it's acid doing the rounds on Rattata to make it faint, but no issues here as the Venonat is strong and could finish off Tentacool and gain level 14 before coming up against Shellder.
A few withdraws were used by Shellder while it took damage from Venonat for an easy victory and claiming the battle money as a reward, for defeating the Super Nerd. it was cool to see a couple of new Pokemon being used though.
There were always lots of wild Pokemon encounters in this dreadful place, some are okay since you can get new catches for your party but if not, well you best have some repels to limit them!
In the bottom corner after the Super Nerd, a Rare Candy was found and these joyous lollies are great for the level to be increased by one. Especially handy if you want to push a Pokemon to higher power.
This next trainer was a Bug Catcher with weak Pokemon and nothing special.. a Magikarp and the usual odd bug as well and then an escape rope was found nearby as well.
Goliath got to have a fun battle against a Lass that started off using a Charmander, would have ended badly if only Ember was being used but some scratching and a growl ensured Venonat wasn't a crispy bug.
Next up was the Grimer and it's pound did hit hard before getting paralyzed and seeing Dratini wrap it up for a swift, smooth finish against two awesome Pokemon.
After healing once more to come back in and continue forward, there were a few more trainer battles carried out which gained some additional levels with a cool battle with a final Pokemon to be something he wished he had too, was against a Hiker.
Diglett was the starting choice but the Rattata had learned Water Gun for this occasion and was able to quickly gain level eleven from this fight.
Rattata was soon wiped out by Machop's Karate Chop which was instant and hurt.
Venonat got revenge for it though after a couple of tackles, one of them being a critical hit to finish Machop off.
Goliath's Venonat would soon be regretting that critical hit when this Hiker brought out a damn Marowak which made him jealous, even more jealous when the bone club required a change in Pokemon to continue this fight.. Jigglypuff next into the Dratini for a finish but at a cost of having to heal so soon and have all the party of Pokemon fighting fit to finish off Mt Moon and head into Cerulean city!
Emulator used: RetroArch with a Gameboy Colour core
ROMS: Pokemon Blue after being put through the randomiser
Saving: (Used for quick loading and for getting back to before I had all Pokemon faint, if I lose and so it is quicker.)

Stay tuned to see how I go with leveling, what team I am using and my journey as I progress through Pokemon Blue.
