Being one of my favourite games it was necessary to provide a look and feel for what this game is all about, a space game where you can fly all sorts of ships with different fittings of weapons and equipment etc.
Warning there are quite a few controls involved in flying, diverting power, combat and more and takes some time to get used to.
This sun and the sun in any solar system is what you first arrive at, when using your hyper-drive to travel to new systems. "Beautiful, isn't it?" In general the quality both of the graphics, and the overall flying/combat aspects make you feel like you are really taking control of the situation (or the enemy is) and is a very atmospheric game.
Controlled by a frame shift drive or FSD there are a couple of aspects to consider before you warp, like making sure your hardpoints (weapons etc) aren't deployed, you're not too close to a station which mass locks your ship to stop warps, or if in combat you have a disruption of certain masses to delay when your FSD is fully charged.
Combat can be tough if your ship is smaller and your maneuvering skills aren't so good, unless you have help from other ships in the area. But you will generally maneuver about while firing (with the ability to target specific systems of the ship). Diverting power between ships systems, weapons, and engines helps in certain fights depending on yours and the enemy ship.
You have the choice of a docking computer for automatically doing it for you, or manual which means you contact the station to request docking permission, go through the gate (be sure to not be wanted), and then proceeding to and landing on your designated landing pad which is always the way to go.
If you like space games, something atmospheric, quality gameplay and enjoyability, and an overall good game in my opinion then you should look at getting Elite Dangerous, putting the time in to learn and build up your credits, and get to the better ships.
