As a big fan of Underworld movie saga, I am ashamed to admit that I found about the new sequel when I was checking online streaming sites for something interesting to watch. Ka-boom! There it was: the poster of Beckinsale in her usual dark appearance as a vampire Death dealer.

I was also surprised to realize that it is supposed to be released later in European cinemas and here I was watching in high quality, sipping tea. Gotta love movie leaks and without watching the movie, I suspected that it didn't do so well in terms of profits.

Anyway, back to my review. The movie starts with a little recap of Selene's story. Good thing because it refreshed my memory since "Underworld: Awakening", and I was absolutely not in the mood to re-watch again previous ones - as a matter of fact, I barely watch a movie TWICE.

Immediately after the recap, there is a lot of action. We are introduced to the new Lycan villain, Marius and the soon-to-be-happening Vampires' extinction - there are only a couple of convents. Once again, Selena is being chased by vampires and lycans, for different reasons. In this movie, her daughter and her hybrid blood is key to all the screenplay of Underworld: Blood wars. At the same time, there are key characters such as David, Semira and Lena. The main subject is the war between werewolves and vampires, parallel to other lines of stories, making the film more interesting.

There is a lot of action, blood, greed and lust. No love story, maybe some platonic feelings of David who mentioned several times that Selena is very to important to him. I am surprised to say that post-production made some shitty job about editing movie scenes. They were moving too fast from one dialogue to another one and I felt like I lost myself. In addition, I think they should change whoever did the special effects because, by the end of this movie, you will see that the big evil werewolf looked a bit like a big bad quality hologram.

There is a small twist at the end of the movie, which brings David into the spotlight. I don't mind: he is hot LOL. Selena finds all answers to her questions, including Michael's mysterious disappearance.

Overall, it is quite interesting to watch, maybe some scenes could be better and I prefer more dialogue. It has lost a bit of its mystical aura and the ending leaves the impression that there might another one coming up - I hope it will be released in the next 2 years. And, it is supposed to be horror, well it was not so scary.

My other favorite character was Thomas, David's father. The rest of actors did quite a performance but Charles Dance (the guy who played Thomas) was better. The cast is a bit impressive.

Selena - Kate Beckinsale ( you know who she is)

David- Theo James (someone has seen the Divergent series? He is there)

Marius- Tobias Menzies ( I remember him from The Night Manager mini-series, which you should watch by the way)

Semira- Lara Pulver ( from True Blood)

I rarely make this kind of rating but I would give this movie 6 stars out of 10.

What are your thoughts? Did you watch? If not, do you plan to do so?
