Normally I only share one or two Splinterlands posts in one week, and as a general rule never two in a row. It has been a few days since posted, but I still like to mix things up... But on the last Fortune Pass draw I got very lucky and pulled a black foil Oshannus Unmade and having been itching to share my good luck.
The artwork on the card celebrates Surrealism at it's finest, not quite a Salvador Dali, but a dope card anyway. Sadly, he's not nearly as powerful as the good old Djinn Oshannus from the Chaos Era, but I really do like the black foils as they are limited in production numbers and come maxed out. Additionally, you get an extra battle bonus when you use them and win in battles.
This was my surprise when I claimed my rewards from the last Fortune Pass drawing:
It's always a great feeling to win a nice card. Is it a black foil, arcane legendary card? No, but still really a nice win. This cards current valuation is around $13, not too bad! For those around in the Untamed era it seems insanely low, but Kitty and Llama cards were hundreds of dollars back then... The good old days...
Now onto the card details:
Black foil cards come completely maxed out, so no card combining is necessary. At level ten this one comes with a ranged attack of three, a speed of five, and a health of seven. It's abilities include Dispel meaning after a successful attack the target loses any magic buffs, Snare meaning it can't miss flying opponent cards, and Lookout meaning that adjacent cards take one less physical damage from sneak, snipe of opportunity attacks.
Lookout only really works when playing diamond and above, today's match will be in gold, so no lookout in today's battle...
You can see the entire battle by clicking this link here.
This screenshot was taken after the buffs are applied but before the action has started. This is a battle in Modern with a mana cap of a healthy 55. The rulesets are Even Stevens so only cards with even mana can be selected and Born Again where all units are resurrected once with one health and full armor. These battles are always really, really long...
I chose Lorkus as my archon due to the ability to give Life Leach (add 50% health taken taken from an attack that is successful) and Affliction (50% chance a successfully attacked enemy will be hit with the inability to heal.) He also adds one extra melee and magic attack to all units on his team. Pretty awesome archon!
For my tank I went Doomshield Warden followed by Drybone Megalodon. Then I decided to throw in Echelon with Portia Nyr next in line. Last up I went with Mindless Thrall and the brand new Oshannus Unmade.
My opponent chose Brewmaster Abraxas for the archon. For tank they also chose Doomshield Warden with Cavewise Wayfinder next up in line. Then they added in the Busy Beaver followed by the Saltwraith Pirate. To round off the team they went with Infernal Firestorm and last up Fenmoor Wood Troll.
My opponent has some strong cards, I personally avoid Reckless cards as they damage adjacent units when they have a successful attack. Probably because I don't have a great strategy for them...
By round two our tanks our weakening, but no one has been resurrected yet.
By round three some progress, it's going to be a long match...
And a successful attack from Oshunnus Unmade, I do have to show off the star of today's post a little bit!
After four rounds... I'm going to need some coffee to stay awake.
Finally getting somewhere by round five.
Not much change by round six...
Round seven and things are looking good. My Mindless Thrall is now a monster health wise thanks to Life Leach.
Round nine, and then there was one!
And Mindless Thrall gets the final deathblow. Look at that insane health, I think it went to 25 after this hit. Life Leach is a great ability, and can make your card near unstoppable when played correctly. Did the Oshannus Unmade play a huge role in the victory? Not as much as I would have liked, but it did do some damage. This isn't a card I've not used much, so figuring it out will take some time!

That will wrap up my post for today. I do hope you enjoyed it! It's fun winning a black foil card, it doesn't happen very often, but it does feel good. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and as always thank you for all of your support. It's deeply appreciated. Have a great Sunday everyone!
