Three tune Tuesday has come again and time to choose a fun genre for the day. This was an easy choice today having heard some Ramones yesterday, so we're going to dive right into some fun punk music. It wouldn't be right to talk about punk without starting with the Ramones, they really were the start of punk in my eyes. They picked up the name from Paul McCartney who used to check into hotels using the false name Paul Ramon, after all he didn't want to be mobbed by his fans. They originated in New York City area and became heavily influential to many bands that followed them. Sadly all four of the original Ramones have passed on but their spirit lives on in their music. Here's a short song but a great one by the Ramones: Blitzkrieg Bop

Green Day are a band that originated in the San Francisco Bay area in the late eighty's. Apparently the band name came about for a term used in the Bay area meaning a day doing nothing but smoking cannabis, and they all liked their weed. They really became a commercial success in the early 90's with some nice hard core punk. Here's "Basketcase"

And to finish off a three tune Tuesday we definitely need to have an additional song. I decided to go with one of my favorites from the 90's. Some would say they are more rock than punk, but they're awesome. The Offspring are a band out of the Los Angeles are and have an awesome hard punk sound. One thing I have in common with their lead singer Dexter Holland is the love of hot sauce. He even has his own hot sauce line Gringo Bandito, the only hot sauce that has mojo as one the ingredients and tastes great too! Here's "Self Esteem".

I hope you liked my Tuesday picks and I hope it's been a great day. Thanks to ablaze@ablaze for sponsoring three tune Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by!
