My Soul is pretty special to me too! Here's a pic:
The Superhero complex (probably worth a post on its own).
My older bro calls me "The most generous self-centered person that I know" - and what he means is that usually I'm just focused on what I'm working on now (these last few thousand days, that's my art). I forget to come up for air- I don't reach out to friends and family that often.
But...
If someone needs help... I most often drop what I'm doing, and go to save the day. Usually that just means time spent listening, ideas created, or website made.... but I have been known to drop in my car, drive cross country, and help whomever needed it.
Here's the most appropriate example I can think of:
I was in Austin, Texas. This is during my 6 year couchsurfing adventure... So, when Kate called, I was basically (voluntarily) homeless.
"I haven't slept in forever, I'm exhausted, the chapter is due tomorrow, and I am pretty sure that they are going to laugh me out of the industry, and blacklist me!"
She had committed to be one of the authors in a multi-author book on various internet marketing methods. The guys who were going to put the book out were well known, and the authors would give their content for free in exchange for the exposure.
I stopped what I was doing, threw on some shoes, packed up my laptop and went to my car.
"Where are you going?"
"I have to go save the day."
"Do you need a cape?"
"Do you have one??"
It was a crappy cape, but yes... Susan had a cape handy. When Kate opened the door in tears, I was on the other side, wearing a cape... there to save the day.
She had 14 pages at the time. I told her to go to sleep, I've got this. When she woke up, she had 47 pages, all beautifully laid out. I fixed the grammar, I fluffed up the content, and I added some of my own...I knew this stuff.
The book never did get published, but she was told that her chapter was by far the best and most professional thing that anyone had ever contributed.
That same chapter also got the attention of some peeps that offered her the opportunity to make a course on the topic (social media management), which I had to do a tiny bit of saving the day on as well... And that course got her 6 figures of income for the next few years.
I don't know where the cape went... but I do know that if I'm ever in a bind, I can sell my Soul for cash.
