So it's that time! The rewards from my first post were unlocked yesterday-- cue the music-- and I decided to stake almost all of it. The mechanics of these things aren't entirely clear to me yet, but I'll probe that topic in a moment. First...
The breakdown in the pop-up (not pictured) indicates that I should've received 16.74 LEO Rewards, but it seems I only got about half of that. Is that normally how it works-- a portion of my earnings go back into the LEO ecosystem-- and I just haven't yet noticed or come across this detail?
I know there is the option in my account settings where I can choose to give 5% of my earnings back to Leo Finance, and I opted in... but that would only be about 1.6 LEO in this case, so I'm still confused.
This realization hit me in the midst of my research on staking and delegation for Hive and Leo Finance. I'll continue to dig, but it surprises me how little information is out there on the basics of staking and delegation. One solid primer would be helpful... but maybe I just haven't found it yet.
So while I'm on the subject of being a Hive/Leo ploebian, maybe one of you can either: explain the bare-bones basics of staking and delegating my Hive and/or Leo tokens (and what the most helpful and profitable strategies are), or point me towards a resource that can do just that.
I've read different perspectives, but nothing thoroughly basic: one person talks about how LEO curation rewards are much higher, so they sell HIVE for LEO and delegate; another person talks about delegating their Leo Power for curation rewards, and then is corrected in the comments by a few people saying rewards are only paid when delegating Hive Power...
Baby steps, people...
Cheers: to patient communities.
